Blues August update

What’s going on THIS WEEKEND?
- Men’s game this Saturday @ 9am at Humber… ARRIVE BY 8am…!!! 8 AM!

- 👕 Men's squad; please bring any Blues jumpers (jerseys) and/or shorts that you may have at home and return them to Obi after the match. Please note that if you choose to keep any of the kit, you'll be contributing to an increase in player dues/fees in 2024. 🥺

- Saturday evening: 🏅 AFL Ontario Australian Football Hall of Fame Gala & Awards Night. Dinner & Awards 6:30 pm - Walrus Pub & Beer Hall - 187 Bay Street, Toronto. Tickets are $40 each, and includes dinner. Cash Bar. Door prizes. Semi-Formal.

What else is going on?!
- We still have the Cherry Beach 🍒 permit every Monday until the end of September - let's all get out and help the women's+ team prepare for finals! Their first finals game will be on Saturday, September 9th.

- 🏆 2023 AFL Grand Final - the 'Super Bowl' of Australian football: the game begins at 12:30am on Saturday, September 30th; 'party' to begin on Friday the 29th.
- I am looking for a location to hold a Grand Final viewing party, in the hopes of raising some money! The venue must have access to TSN and be willing to be open until about 3:30am (they can of course stop serving at the normal time).

- Likewise, I am looking for a venue to host the Central Blues 2023 Awards Night - ideally a Friday or Saturday night, preferably some time in October or November (avoiding when people are typically busy during Thanksgiving, Halloween, Oktoberfest, etc.).

- Footy's for sale: I've got some old / weathered Sherrin footys that we're willing to sell to any Blues who want them! They'll range from about $10-$25 depending on their condition. Great way to maintain touch on a footy over the winter months! (Note that a 'new' footy is about $120 CAD).

- Merch: I will be gauging interest in getting some Blues training singlets made (yes, I realise we're approaching the off-season)... anyway, hold that thought for now, but keep this in mind in case you're thinking of stealing one of our jumpers... 😬😬😬😬

- Off-season: We're obviously a ways off, but we will be putting in an early bid to try and secure an off-season training field at Lamport Stadium.

- 💬 Blues team rep for AFL Canada LEAGUE WIDE WhatsApp group: Is there anyone who is willing to be the club contact for an AFL Canada LEAGUE WIDE WhatsApp group chat?! The goal is to have a representative from every footy club in Canada so we can advertise whats happening at our club, get takeaways from other clubs on what they're up to and potentially get some ideas that will improve our operations. If this is something you think you'd like to be a part of, let me know. If you reckon you'd only check the messages once a month, then please don't put your hand up. haha
