A squad of 9 comprising Tony Guimares, Toby Robinson, Andy Smith, Mick Coleman, Mark Wilson, Mark Cruddace, John Dwyer, Colm Herron and Ian Shaw took part in a 6 a side tournament in Seville last Saturday. In the morning the teams were split into two groups of 4 teams. We beat Betis 1.0 in the first with Ian Shaw scoring the goal. Second game saw us totally dominatethe game against Lions Beltza from the Basque country but a great performance from their keeper and a defensive lapse in conentration saw us defeated 1.0. Our final group game saw an Ian Shaw hat trick defeat Barcelona 3.0, it could have been may more but for their 78 year old ex pro goalkeeper. We finished 2nd in our group and played a quarter finals against Bilbao who had drawn all their group games 0.0. Despite being totally dominant again another defensive lapse saw us lose 1.0 to the eventual tournament winners despite them only scoring one goal in open play in the whole tournament till the final ! The best we could now finish was 5th which we duly did beating Barcelona again 7.0 Mick getting one goal with 2 each from Andy, Ian and John. We then beat Betis 2.0 with goals from John and Toby to end the tournament in 5th despite letting in only 2 goals and ending up by far and away the top scoring team in the tournament with Ian Shaw finishing tournament top scorer. We had a very late invitation to enter the tournament this year and hopefully we will be invited again next year.
