IHSAA State Tournament

1 Oct 2022 by Rivera, Edgar

All,

Hopefully you all had a great High School season.

As we enter the state tournament, we would like to share a couple of thoughts. Players and coaches are extra amped up during this time and being proactive and prepared can help mitigate issues. We have seen unnecessary interactions with coaches during the game and after the game that produced cards and tension. It is paramount that you establish a rapport with the AD, trainer and Coaches!!! This ounce of prevention will pay off during the game.

Meet with the head coach before the game and introduce yourself. Do it as a crew if possible.
Have a referee crew meeting to discuss hot topics
Offsides with a deliberate play
Substitutions prior to the ball out of play
Ball bouncing in and out of the goal and confirming a goal
Deliberate handling
Overtime procedure
Exit strategy.
Location to meet immediately following the end of the game
Avoid standing in a line for the “fist bump.”
Have minimal equipment on the field
As usual, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Tony or Edgar

Have fun out there and be safe.
