Email from Coach Les Stawicki

21 Mar 2018 by Anita Schafer

Hi All! I received an email message from Maestro Les Stawicki from the Louisville Fencing Center (Louisville, KY), and I had to share it with all of you:

To our Fencers and Friends

It was a pleasure to see everyone at this weekend tournament, in celebration and memory of the life of Andrew “Cory” Stauble, whose love of the sport of fencing definitely could be felt in the camaraderie and competition in his honor.

While we understand that not everyone could attend, we had more than 40 fencers attended the event, from 12 different clubs in 4 states! Thank you to the fencers from the University of Louisville, Madison Blades, Royal Arts Fencing Academy, the American Fencing Academy of Dayton, Bowling Green Fencing Academy, Indianapolis fencing club, the Bluegrass Fencer’s Club, Salle Du Lion Fencing Center, the Middle Tennessee Fencing Club, the IndySabre Fencing Club, Jacksonville Academy, and our own Louisville Fencing Center for joining us this weekend!

If we have missed anyone, we truly apologize and express our deepest gratitude for you traveling to attend.

We especially would like to call out young Alec Schwartz, of Harrison High School Fencing Club in Indiana! Alec is a freshman and not only is he and is club new to fencing (they’ve been up and running less than a year) this was his first competition. We hope you felt welcomed, Alec, and we look forward to you and your fellow club members to visit some of the other clubs in the region!

Finally, to everyone, we would like to say thank you again for the fencing fellowship, and we look forward to seeing you in future competitions and at next year’s Cory Stauble Open!

Sincerely
Les Stawicki
