It was another big stepping stone day for our program last night at the Arlington County Championships! We had a whole bunch of great performances including many more PRs, which is impressive given how many of the PRs that were broken are still brand new from a mere 4 days earlier.

Alma took 0.03 seconds off her best in the 100, Vik set a PR in the Triple Jump, which currently has her sitting at 18th in the entire state of Virginia. It's great to have Anna back and racing well, her 5:13 in the 1600 is a new team best for this year and puts her at 14th in VA. Owen took a cool 0.4 sec off his school record in the 3200 and sits 4th in the state. All three of these athletes also have top times in other events with Vik at 3rd in High Jump, Anna at 7th in the 800, and Owen at 14th in the 1600.
We also had new season's best in the 4x1 for both genders. The girls are steadily improving and dropped 0.4 seconds. The boys slashed over a second off our previous best. Their time currently sits 3rd in the region putting them in prime position to hopefully advance to the state meet.
Other notable performances:
Lachlan took the win in the 1600 and Tom got under 5 minutes.
Matt dipped under 11 minutes for 3200.
Dominic takes his first individual win of the season, running a PR of 23.1 and winning the 200.
Jackson wins the 100 and Alma wins the 200.
We had some solid debuts, with Sofia running her first 3200 and Finley with her first 400 of the season, both running strong marks.
A crew of freshmen distance girls experienced the excitement (and pain) of their first 4x4 ever.
8 out of 10 girls running the 800 ran PRs.
Overall the boys team saw 28 PRs total.
And not to be outdone by the boys, the girls team saw 32 PRs!
This is just downright impressive stuff. If our team keeps trending this way, we're going to be extremely happy with the results to come.
Next Up: Herndon on Saturday
The ship is sailing 🚢
There are probably 10 more fantastic performances that I could have mentioned, but I'm headed to New York in... 20 minutes, and I've already spent too much time combing over these results. So if I forgot to mention anything outstanding, know that we see you and we appreciate the hard work you're putting in!
