The School Coaches Education Programme for coaches in the Hambantota District was successfully conducted at Mandaduwa Ground, Weeraketiya, bringing together school coaches for an educational and interactive learning experience focused on modern coaching practices.

The programme covered several important areas including “How to Coach Skills,” “Session Planning,” and “Modified Games to Cater Skill Development,” aiming to enhance the coaches’ ability to deliver effective and player-centered training sessions.

The “How to Coach Skills” session focused on methods of teaching cricket techniques effectively, communication strategies, demonstration methods, and correcting player movements in a positive learning environment.

During the session planning segment, coaches were introduced to the importance of organizing structured training sessions with clear objectives, proper progressions, time management, and purposeful activities to maximize player development.

The programme also highlighted the value of modified games as a practical coaching tool to improve skill development, decision-making, game awareness, and player engagement through enjoyable and competitive activities.

The programme concluded successfully with active participation from the coaches, continuing the effort to strengthen grassroots cricket coaching and player development pathways within the Hambantota District.
