On 26th March 2026, the High Performance Centre (HPC) hosted a focused coaching initiative under the WP North School Coaches Education Program, with a specialized emphasis on wicketkeeping. The program brought together school coaches from the North Western region, aiming to enhance their technical knowledge and practical coaching skills in this critical area of cricket.
The session was structured to cover the fundamental aspects of wicketkeeping, beginning with the basics and progressing into more advanced technical components. Key focus areas included stance and balance, ensuring coaches understand the importance of a stable and efficient setup behind the stumps. Footwork drills were introduced to improve movement efficiency, enabling quicker reactions and better positioning during match situations.
In addition, the program emphasized glove work techniques, helping coaches refine skills related to catching, collecting, and handling the ball under different conditions. Beyond technical skills, the session also highlighted the importance of communication and leadership, reinforcing the wicketkeeper’s role as a central figure in on-field coordination and decision-making.
Overall, the program served as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and skill development, contributing to the continuous improvement of school-level cricket coaching standards in the region.
