Strengthening the Pathway: Schools and Academy Coaches Education Programme Held in Jaffna

17 Dec by Shaun Perera

A Schools and Academy Coaches Education Programme for Jaffna was successfully conducted on 17 December 2025 at the Stanley College Auditorium and side wicket nets. The programme brought together school and academy coaches with the objective of reviewing the 2025 cricket season and gaining deeper insights into the long-term development of a cricket player.
The sessions focused on reflecting on seasonal performances, identifying key development gaps, and understanding the structured progression required to nurture players from the grassroots to higher levels of the game. Practical and discussion-based segments allowed coaches to connect theory with on-field application, ensuring that learning could be directly translated into their coaching environments.
A special session led by a National Cricket Pathway Academy coach educator provided valuable guidance on modern coaching practices, player monitoring, and the importance of holistic development. The programme served as an important platform to align coaching standards, share experiences, and reinforce a unified approach to player development across schools and academies in the Jaffna region.
