District Coaches Education Programme Focuses on Seasonal Review and Player Development
16 Dec by Shaun Perera
The District Coaches Education Programme was successfully conducted on 16 December 2025, bringing together coaches for a comprehensive learning and reflection session. The programme was hosted at the NPCA Office and the MSD Academy Indoor Net, providing both a discussion-based and practical learning environment.
The session primarily focused on reviewing the 2025 cricket season, allowing coaches to reflect on performances, identify key trends, and evaluate coaching approaches used throughout the year. This review encouraged critical thinking on what worked well and what areas require improvement at district level.
A key component of the programme addressed how a cricket player can develop holistically. Discussions emphasized self-development through discipline, goal setting, skill refinement, physical conditioning, and mental preparedness. Coaches were guided on how to support players in taking ownership of their development both on and off the field.
The programme was further enriched by the participation of a coach educator, whose expertise added depth to the discussions and provided valuable insights into modern coaching practices and long-term player development pathways.
Overall, the programme served as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, reflection, and professional growth, reinforcing the importance of continuous coach education in developing high-quality cricketers at the district level.
