Day 3 of the SLC Level 2 Coaching Course in Dambulla continued to raise the bar in coach education, delivering a dynamic mix of technical knowledge, field application, and individual assessment. This five-day program, conducted by the Coach Education Unit of Sri Lanka Cricket, today marked its midpoint with a strong focus on batting development.
The morning featured detailed presentations by Coach Educator Sanjaya Rajapakshe, who spoke on building technically sound and mentally resilient batsmen, emphasizing footwork patterns, shot selection, and situational awareness. Former national player and HPC Coach Mr. Saman Jayantha added further depth, discussing game-based batting development and how to nurture intent and adaptability at the crease.
In the afternoon, coaches were taken outdoors for practical drills under the guidance of Lead Coach Educator Mr. Kaushalya Gajasinghe, who managed the sessions with precision. A key feature of the day was a batting observation task, where youth players trained while participating coaches analyzed their technique and decision making. Coach Educators simultaneously evaluated the coaches’ observation, analytical, and communication skills—bringing theory into action and elevating coaching standards in a live environment.
