SAVE THE DATE | 30 Years of Women's Football at Essendon Royals

8 May by Matthew Galea

Dear Royals family,

This season marks three decades of Essendon Royals women’s football, from our first trail‑blazing side in 1995 to today’s NPLW squad and JGNPL up-and-comers.

The day is being sponsored by our wonderful partners from Coburg Super Finish Smash Repairs (https://www.csuperfinish.com.au/) and Power Crank Batteries (https://powercrank.shop/) who have graciously provided event-specific funding to allow us to host a special function for all of our Women's players and coaches, demonstrating their incredible commitment to the club our female football program.

We're excited to have a host of wonderful sponsors who have jumped on board to provide gifts and prizes for a special pre-game function as well.

On Saturday 24 May we’ll honour everyone who has laced up a boot, pulled on a whistle or cheered from the sidelines.

Here's what we'll have going on the day:

1:30 pm onwards | Doors open to the wider Royals community and junior teams. Special Kids meals will be available, as well as the full canteen menu and drinks at bar prices.

Senior Women v South Melbourne | Coveny-Curcija Plate kick‑off to follow at 3 pm. Vaughan Coveny and Michael Curcija are South Melbourne and Essendon Royals legends.

For South they were a fearsome strike partnership that helped Hellas to multiple National titles.

Whilst both played VPL for Essendon Royals, as coaches and Technical Directors, they have been incredible advocates for our growing female football program.

All Royals members and the general public are invited to join our VIP cohort of inaugural players, former and current players and coaches, and female football champions from 1.30 pm.

Dress code for the day is the splash of red!
