RYA Level 1 (Start Sailing) course is an ideal course for the novice with little to no sailing experience. The Sonar keelboat we use to deliver our training is forgiving and stable with easy access from a pontoon mooring at our Southwick base.
By the end of the two-day course you will have a basic understanding of keelboat handling techniques and accompanying background knowledge. Once you have completed the course you can then go on to consolidate your knowledge with the RYA Level 2 (Basic Skills) or Sona hour builders. We maintain a low student to instructor ratio of 3:1 to ensure as much time at the helm as possible.
Please note numbers in craft are reduced due to Covid 19 and you will need to follow government and club guidance.
Attached is a summary of what will be covered over the weekend. Cost of the course is £150 members & £200 for non members. We have wind proofs and buoyancy aids for sailing. You book via the app by buying a ticket or by chatting to Paula on 01273 464868 through the office you will be asked to complete an application form
