IRB Racing this winter!

Floreat Surf Life saving Club is looking for expressions of interest (EOI) for new and/or existing members to kick off the upcoming IRB Racing competition season!!

Don’t miss this opportunity to get involved in a sport that gives lifesavers the chance to participate in simulated rescue events which aim to help develop and hone lifesaving rescue skills through competition. Floreat last had a team competing in 2017, 2018
and 2019 seasons , but this was disbanded during COVID.

We would like to revive our clubs illustrious IRB traditions - the pinnacle of which being crowned as ALL AUSTRALIA IRB CHAMPIONS in 1998!

There are a variety of roles available within the team including Team Manager - IRB driver - IRB crew - Patients and Boat Handlers - First Aid. There are also roles for members who wish to get involved in a non-competitive capacity as support members who assist team during competition and other team events.

We are seeking expression of interest for any members who meet the criteria below:
DRIVERS - Is Min 17 years old and a current financial member of Floreat Surf Life Saving Club and holds a current IRB driver’s certificate.

CREW - Is Min 16 years old and a current financial member of Floreat Surf Life Saving Club and holds a current IRB crew certificate.

PATIENTS - Is Min 15 years old and a current financial member of Floreat Surf Life Saving Club and holds a current IRB crew certificate OR

TEAM ASSISTANTS - is Min 16 years old and a current financial member of Floreat Surf Life Saving Club and is available to assist in a non-competitive capacity.

Race Dates:
Carnival 1 - Sunday April 19th - Coogee Beach
Carnival 2 - Sunday May 3rd - Quinns Rocks
Carnival 3 - Sunday May 17th - Mullaloo Beach
Carnival 4 - Sat & Sunday May 30/31 - Lancelin Weekend away (pending interest)
Championships - Sat & Sunday June 13/14 - Leightons Beach

Racing categories are as follows - split into Male and Female categories
IRB rescue - One driver, one crew and one patient
IRB tube rescue - One driver, one crew and one patient
IRB mass rescue - One driver, one crew and two patients
IRB Teams rescue - 2 drivers, 2 crew and 2 patients

If we want to field a team we will need to be training nearly every weekend through to the race season start - make sure you have the time.
