27 Nov 2021 by Colin Hepplewhite
Fife hosted Highland for the second County Game of the season
First up were the Men. To start us off was Alex Jeffrey vs Steve Mitchell. Unfortunately Alex struggled to find his range and it was Steve who ran out 4-0 winner. Next two sets went Fife's way. Rab Shaw beating Dougie Milne 4-1 and Craig Baxter beating Hugh Graham 4-0
Fife 2 vs Highland 1
Next up, Ladies. Highland dominated these group of games. Linda Hutchison losing to Lynn Shearer 3-1 (Linda registered a 180 in third leg). Jenni Tully losing 3-0 to Courtney McBain. Last set saw Lynn Torrance throw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Hollie Ridgers.
Fife 2 vs Highland 4
Next was the largest group of the day five sets of Men's darts. Kevin O'Hagan got a must needed win, beating Derek MacLean 4-2. Highland then went even further in front. Richard Brown losing 4-1 to James Fraser and Jimmy Gay losing 4-1 to Jamie McNair. Fife needed to find wins in last two sets. Which they got. Colin Hepplewhite just winning 4-3 vs Jim McNair, then Dayle Morgan eased past Jim MacNeil 4-0
Fife 5 vs Highland 6
Next the short group of two Women. Could Fife keep the momentum going. The answer was yes. Steph Gilmour beat Lesley Dawson 3-0, then Gillian Hepplewhite beat Mary Jane Cameron 3-0. Fife were back in the lead.
Fife 7 vs Highland 6
Next up Men. Nothing in it, but once again Highland dominated this Group of games. Brendyn Donnelly lost 4-2 to Michael MacLean. Jamie Headrick lost 4-1 to Sandy Morrison. Peter Cessford lost 4-0 to an impressive Alex Morrison. The last set was so important to Fife. Paddy Reilly held his nerve to beat Alastair Mitchell 4-3.
Fife 8 vs Highland 9
Next was the last Group of Women. Highland stretched their lead to two sets, where Liza Warrender lost 3-0 to Jacqui Hill. Fife were now up against it and when Lynne Gray went 2-0 down, things weren't looking good, but she dug deep and staged a great comeback, winning 3-2 against Maria Ross. Last set, Andrea "Tiny" Carr kept her winning form going, beating Sarah Stephen 3-1, taking out 90 on The Bull, Great Finish and more importantly, levelled the match.
Fife 10 vs Highland 10
Final Group of Men. So hard to call. Jamie Clark started things off with a fantastic game of darts, beating Jaimz Nolan 4-0 with a 95.43 average. Next up Rab Watson who got there in the end winning 4-0 against Gordon Redmond. This meant Fife couldn't lose, but Highland could still snatch a draw. With four very experienced players to go, again it was too close to call. Thankfully Fife came out on top. Colin Miller beat Nicky Dunoon 4-2 and last but not least Dean Carr beat George Main 4-1, with another healthy average 87.61.
WELL DONE FIFE!!!
