Central vs Fife Match Report

Saturday 30th November saw Fife make the trip to Cowie to face Central in Round 3 of The County Season. Due to a number of call offs, Fife were down to the bare bones
Womens B
First up was Lynn Torrance, who gave Fife the perfect start, with a solid 2-0 win. Liza Warrender doubled the lead with another solid 2-0 win and a impressive 14.96 average. Next up was Lauren Torrance, who was making her comeback after a few years out. Unfortunately she lost out 2-1. Into the last set, where Gillian Hepplewhite was given the task of getting the win for Fife. She did not disappoint, winning 2-0

Ladies B 1-3
On to the Men's. Where first up was Peter Cessford, who lost out to the talented youngster Samuel Vargovsky. Next up was Team Manager himself, Gordon Donnelly, who did not disappoint. Showing that there was still life in the old dog yet. Winning with 3-1 with a steady average. This seemed to inspire the rest, with Fife winning the next 3 x sets. Dave McLaren & Aaron French winning 3-1, with exact same average. Then Jamie Munn sealed the victory with a 3-0 victory. Last up was Steve "Stiggy Douglas", who just fell short, losing 3-2.

At the half way mark, Fife were 7-3 Up
On to the Women's A. Jane Bassett starting things off. Unfortunately losing to Ex Scottish Youth International Gayle Maxwell 3-2. Fife won the next 2 x sets, with Steph Gilmour and Sarah Binnie both winning 3-0, Steph with an impressive 19.52 average. Andrea Carr unfortunately lost to the vastly experienced Sharon MacFarlane 3-0, so even at 2 sets all. Fifth set saw Chelsea McMahon rattle off three impressive legs, finishing with a tremendous 23,12 average, so 3-2 to Fife, with Linda Hutchison getting the chance to win it for Fife, sadly Shiona Arbuckle made sure that Central got the draw, winning 3-0

Central 6 vs Fife 10
On to the Men's A, where Central got off to a flyer, winning the first 4 x sets. Rab Shaw, Dean Carr, Alan Small and Dayle Morgan all losing 4-3. Fife then started a bit of a revival. Jimmy Gay, Colin Hepplewhite and Brendyn Donnelly all getting a set on the board. So 4-3, next up was Dave McLaren who was sent up from the Men's B, sadly lost 4-2. Things were looking bleak for The Fifers, but Jeff Wardlaw held his nerve, winning 4-3 and Colin Miller coasting to a 4-0 win, with the highest average for Fife (27.08). Nothing in it, 5-5, going in to the last two sets. With Fife very strong, Scottish International Alex Jeffery & the in form Jamie Clark still to come, however Graeme Orr had other ideas, winning in yet another thriller, 4-3. Final game of the day, who would hold their nerve. Robert Hamilton did everything he could to earn a great victory for Central, but it was Jamie who used all his experience to get the victory and end the day with a 6-6 Draw. A fantastic day. Great hosplitality and played in a brilliant atmosphere
