All-
I just want to highlight the accomplishments of our athletes that competed at the Junior Olympics over these last two weeks.

First, the USATF Junior Olympics which were held at Hayward Field on the campus of The University of Oregon, in Eugene, OR. The venue was magnificent and the meet was one of the best youth meets ever held. As for our athletes, they did a tremendous job.

Grace Bethel earned a spot on the championship podium finishing 4th overall in the girls 13-14 100m. She also ran a PR in prelims of 12.29

Alex Allen earned a spot on the championship podium finishing 5th overall in the girls 15-16 division. Alex ran three 400m races in three days to reach the podium.

James Barrgan advanced to the semifinals of both the 100m and 200m of the Young Men’s 17/18 division. And just narrowly missed the 200m final finishing 11th overall.

Quincy White, Jr. dropped a full second to deliver a 400m PR of 53.45. He also established a new PR in the 100m clocking 11.76

Jaliyah Taylor was just off her 100m PR running 12.55 in the prelims of the girls 15-16 division.

Jiyanna Taylor ran a PR of 13.73 in her 100m prelims in the girls 13-14 division.

Lincoln Morgan got us started by recording a PR in USATF competition in the triple jump with a jump of 25-7.75

Kelsey Thomas was just off her 200m PR running 28.38 in the girls 13-14 division.

The following week in Iowa at historic Drake Stadium, Riley and Eliana ran on the blue oval and performed superbly.

Riley set a huge PR in the 400mh breaking the 60 sec barrier with a time of 58.89 and finished 19th overall in the boys 15-15 division.

Eliana certainly saved the best for last dropping PRs in both of her events. Eliana had an improvement of over 5 secs to run 2:40 in the 800m (finishing 13th overall) and had a HUGE 18 second improvement in the 1500m to run 5:26. In the girls 10u division, Eliana finished 9th overall in the 1500m which is one spot away from the podium.

Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed in the Junior Olympic championships! Their hard work and dedication did not go unrewarded. I look forward to the continued growth and development of all of our athletes.
