Starting January 1, 2020 College pitchers will not be required to start with two feet touching the rubber. PGF and Tripe Crown has also adopted this rule. ASA or USA softball and USSSA has adopted high school rules allowing pitchers to take a step back.

Both rules have been changed to help the pitchers start at a more athletic position.
