School of Origin 2023

8 Mar 2023 by Rupert Sapwell

The competition is a chance for bragging rights for each Campus in the sports of basketball, football, netball and soccer. It will also provide a chance for talent identification and streamlining into academy pathways at the College.
North has dominated the basketball since 2018, and only South has been able to challenge them. Last year, however, saw the emergence of Gawler River and Blakeview as the threatening forces. Gawler River won the football trophy last year, and are looking to be the first team to go back-to-back since North in 2016/17. South are the early front-runners in the netball, with Gawler River looming as their major threat. In the soccer, South broke Blakeview’s four-year stranglehold on the title last year, but can they keep the BV army from marching back to Title Town? Or will Gawler River’s talented cohort steal everyone’s thunder and claim the top prize?

The competitions will be played at the Gawler campus.

Soccer will be the first game played, on Monday, March 27 (week 9), followed by football on Wednesday, April 5 (week 10). Basketball will be played on Tuesday week 11, (April 11). Netball will be on Wednesday week 11 (April 12). All games are after school from 3:45-5:30pm. Coaches will be encouraged to play their strongest combinations, and equal playing time is not guaranteed.
