Thank you for the Memories!
9 Jun 2025 by Chris Symons
Dear Coaches, Players, and Parents,
It’s hard to find the right words to say goodbye to something that has meant so much to me for over six years. As I close this chapter of my life, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for being such an important part of the journey.
This team has been more than just a baseball team that I coached — you’ve become a part of who I am. It’s been about the friendships we've built, the lessons we've learned, the long weekends at the ballpark, the wins we celebrated, and more importantly, the losses that made us stronger. Every practice, every tournament, and every laugh in the dugout has helped shape me — not just as a coach, but as a person.
To Keith, Josh and Jim: Thank you for pushing and believing in me, I will always be grateful for our friendships. From the early mornings to the late nights, from the wins that made us feel on top to the losses that left us in figuring out why — I’ve grown, learned, and spent so much with each of you. Your words and lessons will stay with me, and I’ll definitely miss our group text!
To the Players: Each of you in your own way are special and have become almost like adopted sons to me and a brother to Thane. You’ve been there when I needed a laugh or just someone to have a goofy chat with at practice. I’ll miss the jokes we’ve shared and wish you all the best in your seasons ahead, wherever this great game of baseball might take you. Keep grinding, stay hungry, and remember to always stay humble and play this game with respect.
To the Parents: Thank you for trusting in myself and the culture that you’ve helped create and foster over the years. I know “travel baseball” is almost like a curse word these days, but I hope the overall experience for your family, was something you’ll remember for a long time.
As this chapter closes, I leave with so many memories and the hope that our paths will cross again someday. Though it's hard to say goodbye, I’m walking away with so much to be grateful for and I’ll always carry the Slidell Sox with me.
"In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
(ESV, 1 Thessalonians 5:18)
With Much Gratitude and Appreciation,
Coach Chris
