Looks like the temperatures are going to cool down just in time for a great weekend of BHYFL football and cheer.
The helmets are on, the chin straps are cinched. The pom poms are ready, the voices are ready to be heard.

Shortly after we kick things off for the 2022 season, the Lead-Deadwood Youth Football Association 49ers take a short trip over to Piedmont where the Piedmont Valley Panthers Youth Football And Cheer Association look to take their 1st prey of the season.
9a - JPW - This is an interesting Week 1 matchup sponsored by Orchard Meadows Family Dental & Denture Clinic. Last year the 49ers made the playoffs while a few of the Super Bowl champ Panthers will be moving up to tackle the JPW division while some of their teammates who just missed out. We will see if the pesty Panthers can benefit off an early home game or if the 49ers strike early and strike often.
11a - MM - We will have the little guys take the field in game 2 where the defending champ Piedmont Valley Panthers take on the visiting 49ers. Last year the 49ers dug deep to pick up a win in the season while the Panthers gracefully tiptoed into the playoffs and eventually knocked off the undefeated Broncos on their way to the first Super Bowl championship in association history. New year, New teams! Lets get after it!
1p - PW - We put a bow tie on the week in Piedmont when the 49ers take the field looking to strike gold and get themselves back to the playoffs, while a feisty Panthers team is ready to rebound from the 2021 campaign. We will see if the Panthers can sneak themselves through a tough 49ers defense and get some early season momentum.

Before we kick things off we wanted to share a little house keeping. Reminder no smoking, drinking, pets, sunflower seeds, and colored drinks. Have yourself a blast cheering for your favorite player and favorite team. Remember, this is for the kids. It's their turn, make it about them.

The Top 8 make the playoffs this year so that is a fun change. Shorter season, more playoff games.
