BHYFL Playoffs

27 Oct 2021 by Cody Uran

Yes folks! It's that time of year again...... Playoff Football!!

We have a full slate of action in Rapid City on the campus of School of Mines Dunham Field at O'Harra Stadium.

8a - JPW - The undefeated and 1 seed BHYFL Rapid City Broncos Blue take to the field against the 4 seed Spearfish Rams BHYFL to start the day. The Rams hope to get back on track after sneaking into the playoffs due to some early season wins while the Bronco Blue have dominated their opponents all year. These two teams met in Week 3 where the Broncos won 34-0 up in Spearfish. The RC Bronco Blue have declared the parking ramp sideline as their home side as they begin their defense of a SuperBowl Championship of a year ago. The Rams won't be afraid to lock horns as the Broncos look to gallop to another SuperBowl appearance.

10a - PW - In game two of the morning the 2 seed Badlands Eagles Youth Football and Cheerleading Eagles will take to the parking ramp sideline and stare across the field at the 3 Spearfish Rams. Both teams entered the playoffs with just one loss on the year. The Eagles lost in week 4 to the Rams so they will be shooting for a little redemption while the Rams lost in week 2 to the Bucs. The Eagles look to get their wings early and swoop in for a playoff win against the battering Rams.

12p - MM - In the first Mighty Mite contest of the day, the 1 RC Broncos will make the parking ramp sideline their pen when they take on the 4 seed Badland Eagles. The Broncos sit on top of the division undefeated while the Eagles snuck in with two losses on the year. The Eagles look to take flight after being clipped last week by the feisty felines, Piedmont Valley Panther Black MMs who play in the next game. In week 1 these two teams met with the Broncos winning by a long stride, 44-6. This time around the Eagles will need to pick their spots to take advantage of a powerful Broncos team

2p - MM - The back half of our day begins when the 2 BHYFL Rapid City Steelers take their base on the grandstand sideline when they gaze across the turf and see the Piedmont Valley Panthers Youth Football And Cheer Association Black Mighty Mites. The Steelers rebounded last week after a week 6 set back by the Broncos while the Panther Black MMs had a huge win over in Wall beating the Eagles in week 7. Earlier this year these two met with the Steelers taking a win 18-14. If that score is any indication this shapes up to be a good one with two well coached teams. The sneaky Panthers hope to rebound from disappointment last year in the playoffs and take their spot in SuperBowl weekend while the tough ole' Steelers have their own ideas. Here you go folks... you want a "Game of the Week"........ Here it is. That wasn't so hard to pick. How can you not pick 9-man mighty mite football with a recent history of a close game? For a guy who grew up playing 9-man football I might be a little partial to this division.

4p - JPW - The JPW SuperBowl will be set at the completion of this contest between the 2 seed RC Steelers with just one loss on the year taking post on the Grandstand side of the field against the 3 seed Lead-Deadwood Youth Football Association 49ers who have two losses. Just last week these two met with the Steelers coming out on top 14-12 so this will be another great matchup. I guess earlier this week I was challenged to pick the game of the week. I already picked one, but this game won't be too far behind the MM game. When you look at a common opponent in the playoffs, both teams were beat by the 1 seed Broncos Blue this year. Last week was back and forth with just a couple plays making the difference in the game. With a short turnaround they both have some pretty recent film to study on each other. The Steelers hope to steal a little luck from the 49ers for a second week in a row.

6p - PW - In game six of the day we will place our final team into the 2021 BHYFL Rapid City Marshals Indoor Football Team SuperBowl. The 1 seed and favorite Sturgis Buccaneers Youth Football & Cheer Buccaneers will claim the Grandstand Sideline as the home team against the once beaten, 4 seed Lead/Deadwood 49ers. The Bucs have been dominant all year playing a physical style of football resulting in four shutout wins and just 14 points given up on the season. The 49ers suffered a setback over in Wall a couple weeks ago against the Eagles before getting back on track in week 7. The 49ers will show all their cards in order to call the Bucs bluff Saturday night underneath the lights.

So just a reminder
Please stay off the field at completion of games.
There will be food trucks at the field. Ugly Graffiti and The Grasswagon
No seeds in the stands.
No colored drinks on the field.
Volunteers:
1, 2 seeds will need to provide (1) announcer (2) MPR
I heard there is a guy named Aaron Williams (Steelers Commissioner) who is outstanding at announcing , may want to reach out to him.
3, 4 seeds will need (2) MPR
Parking Ramp Sideline - (3) chain members. This is not based off seed; this is strictly based off the sideline you are on.
BHYFL will provide a clock operator.
I hope you all have a fantastic remainder of your weekend and can get out to the games and make some noise. Looking at the forecast we shouldn't need 40 volunteers cleaning yard lines like last year.

Last thing - I know last year in the playoffs we went Facebook live for the games and people really liked that. We may try to get on the field action again this year with a volunteer out on the field.

Have a great week everyone and see you Saturday.
