Match report
Our second game of the season saw us take on Hardly Athletic at the Leasing.com stadium (Macclesfield FC’s ground) raising money for Wakefield Hospice.
It was a strong start from the lads, controlling the game early on and creating a good few early chances which should have been put away until at last we broke the deadlock, a header from Joe Mason from a corner looked to be hitting the post until quick reactions saw Jordan Loveridge head the ball in the back of the net for 1-0 and his first goal for the club!
Hardly began to grow into the game and found a rhythm which made the game very tight. A great one on one save from Danny Batley in net saw us keep the 1-0 lead into the second half. The game was still tightly poised but with 20mins to go a defended shot found its way to Tom Dewhirst just inside the box who slotted it in the bottom corner for 2-0.
With 15mins to go Hardly pulled one back with a nearly slotted finish into the far corner. Not long after they pulled another back to make it 2-2! With only 10mins to go a floating cross found Jordan Loveridge again who managed to head the ball into the far corner to make it 3-2 and restore the lead! It was looking like we would see the game out but in the last few minutes a big kick up the pitch from Hardly’s keeper found 4 of their players through on goal, who looped the ball over Danny in goal to be through on an open goal to finish, 3-3!
That’s how the game ended, 3-3 in a well battled game between both sides. Craig Naylor was voted man of the match which is credit to him in a game with some real good performances. #UTM 🟡⚫️⚽️
