Hardly Athletic Match Report
13 Nov 2023 by Adam Birkinshaw
Our final game of the year before we have a rest through winter and it was a new local rivalry as we took on Hardly Athletic. A new Leeds based charity team, this was their second game since starting up.
You wouldn’t have guessed it was just their second game though, well organised and passed the ball well they took the lead early on, and then grabbed another with a tap in too but fortunately for us it was offside so it stayed 1-0. We created plenty of chances with three of them being 3 of our players through with just the keeper to beat but still the ball didn’t end up in the net. 1-0 at halftime.
The second half kicked off and again Athletic got a quick goal to pull 2-0 ahead! We were still creating chances and finally we found the back of the net. This seemed to spur us on and I think fitness started to hit Athletic which we were able to take advantage of scoring a further 3 goals. Goals from Gary Driscoll , Craig Naylor and two from right back Joe Langan gave us the 4-2 win! A great game to end our year.
Credit to Hardly Athletic, they were a great group of lads and played some good football. A few more games under their belt and they’ll be a team to watch for next year.
Most importantly all money raised went to Andy’s Man Club.
We’ll be starting our season again next April with our annual internal Mush Cup, and looking to start our 11s fixtures back up from May onwards 🟡⚫️⚽️
