Mental Skills Awareness Session for Baduraliya SC First-Class Team at P. Sara

A Mental Skills Awareness Session was conducted for the Baduraliya Sports Club First-Class team at the iconic P. Sara Oval, focusing on preparing players to face the psychological demands of modern cricket.

The session was conducted by Shanaka Fernando, Southern and Uva Coach Educator, who guided the players through a series of discussions and activities centered on understanding mental challenges and strengthening mental resilience.

The program highlighted key areas such as:

Navigating modern-day mental pressures in cricket

Building resilience and emotional control

Improving focus and handling high-pressure situations

Developing self-awareness and strong pre-performance routines

Managing digital distractions and off-field stress


Coach Educator Shanaka Fernando also introduced practical mental skills tools used by elite athletes worldwide to enhance concentration, decision-making, and long-term performance consistency.

Players actively engaged in the session, sharing their experiences and learning valuable strategies to elevate their mental approach to the game.

The High Performance Unit continues to emphasise mental conditioning as a crucial pillar of player development, ensuring that domestic cricketers are mentally equipped to thrive in the modern competitive environment.
