The Coach Education Unit of Sri Lanka Cricket successfully conducted a combined Data Analysis and Nutrition Program for district and provincial coaches from the Central and Eastern Provinces at the High Performance Centre (HPC).

The session, held on 17th November 2025, was delivered by Shaun Perera and Yamini Umapathi, providing coaches with essential modern knowledge to enhance player development.

🔹 Data Analysis for Coaches – By Shaun Perera

Shaun introduced coaches to the fundamentals of digital performance analysis, including:

Understanding match and training data

Identifying key performance indicators (KPIs)

Using digital tools to monitor player progress

How data supports better coaching decisions and long-term planning

Coaches were guided on how analytics can transform training quality and tactical preparation at district and provincial levels.

🔹 Sports Nutrition Program – By Yamini Umapathi

Nutritionist Yamini Umapathi delivered a practical session on athlete nutrition, covering:

Pre-training and pre-match fueling

Recovery meals and hydration routines

Managing youth athlete diets

Building nutrition habits that enhance strength, endurance, and injury prevention

The workshop highlighted how proper nutrition directly impacts performance, recovery, and consistency.

This program further strengthens the CEU’s mission to equip coaches across Sri Lanka with modern, science-backed knowledge, ensuring sustained development within the national coaching pathway.
