A huge congratulation goes out to Mike Gennello from the Florida Eels Elite team as he notches the Florida Eels 1st NCAA college commitment for the 2016-17 this season.

Mike Gennello has committed to NCAA Division III Framingham State University. Gennello is 5’9” 175 pounds. A 2nd year veteran in juniors. He played one year with the Florida Eels. In 44 regular season games this season he had 15 goals and 24 assists for a total of 39 points. Nearly one point per game. He had 6 power play goals. In the 4-playoff games, he scored 2 goals and notched 2 assists.

Head Coach Frankie Scarpaci provides the following scouting report:
A crafty forward that has all the ability to be an exceptional college player. Owns a college level shot already that’s accurate and quick to get off. Can just whip it to the net with authority. He has great vision. He has a deadly one timer as he plays point on the power play. Mike is creative, and can really be an offensive force, however, his defensive play should not be overlooked. He has become a strong two-way player. Mike really takes pride in starting his offensive by taking pucks away from the opponent. Is an absolute pest to play against. He is an extremely determined and dedicated young man. Possesses a phenomenal work ethic. Constantly working to improve his game. He would come back to the rink after practice and shoot extra 100-150 pucks every day.

General Manager Frank Scarpaci echoed, that like all of our 1996 players, Mike Gennello had a number of NCAA offers. Mike is excited about the opportunity to join Framingham State University’s line up. He has a great feel for Framingham State University and its hockey program. He looks forward to attending FSU and making it his home for the next 4 years and especially playing for coach Guy Angers

Mike Gennello marks the Eels 1st player this season committing to a NCAA college. The Eels now have 196 players advancing to college.

We wish Mike the best in his college endeavors. He comes from a very supporting family who made enormous sacrifices for him and without that commitment he would never had realized his dreams. This is what the Eels do: Create opportunities for our players. Expose them to a plethora of showcases and garner significant visibility and exposure.
